The Impact Score
A score you can trust
Every business on Impact Scout is evaluated across five dimensions. The final score is a weighted composite — not a self-reported number.
Ownership & Mission
Who owns the business and whether its founding mission aligns with community benefit — including women-owned, minority-owned, and cooperative structures.
Environmental Practices
Sourcing, waste reduction, energy use, and packaging choices that reduce the business's footprint on the local environment.
Community Engagement
Partnerships with local nonprofits, participation in neighborhood events, and contributions of time or resources to the surrounding community.
Labor Practices
Fair wages, benefits, worker safety, and whether the business invests in the growth and wellbeing of its employees.
Transparency
How openly the business communicates its practices, supply chain, and impact — including third-party certifications and public reporting.
